The Debut Successes of the First European Congress on Anti-Aging & Aesthetic Medicine
ECAAAM, the first European Congress on Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine, held 11-14 September 2008 in Düsseldorf, Germany, was comprised of a conference, a series of workshops, seminars and an exhibition running alongside.
There were over 90 speakers from Europe who presented their groundbreaking research and developments to European medical professionals. There was a comprehensive range of subjects that covered preventive medicine, genetics, aesthetic and cosmetic surgery.
ECAAAM was held in partnership with the World Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (WAAAM) and its academic affiliates - the European Society of Anti-Aging Medicine (ESAAM) and the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M).
Dr. Letizia Toscani, an ECAAAM delegate from Switzerland, said: "As a specialist of preventive medicine and public health, participating in this congress has opened exciting perspectives on the future of preventive medicine."
Dr. Stefan Khaltoff of Rosenparkklinik, a leading dermatology and plastic surgery clinic in Germany, commented: "The high-quality lectures and the wide-ranging exhibition gave delegates an opportunity to discover the developments in anti-aging medicine and an insight into the different options and facets of invasive and non-invasive therapies."
Some of the many distinguished speakers included:
- Prof. Dr. Johannes C. Huber, Director of the Department of Gynaecologic Endocrinology and Reproductive Medicine, University of Vienna School of Medicine;
- Dr. Augustinus Bader, Director of the Department of Cell Techniques and Applied Stem Cell Biology, Biotechnological-Biomedical Center, University of Leipzig;
- Dr. Vera Stejskal, Director of the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, 1st Medical Faculty, Charles University Prague;
- Dr. Aubrey de Grey, Editor of Rejuvenation Research and former scientist of the Institute of Genetics, University of Cambridge.
Prof. Dr. Christos C. Zouboulis, President of ESAAM, commented: "The success of ECAAAM has provided us with great hope that education on the emerging fields of preventive, regenerative and anti-aging medicine has found a European venue, which thousands of physicians from Europe and abroad were looking for."
